Work With the Blog

I keep this blog small and independent, but studios and fellow writers are welcome to ask. Review copies are fine with no promise of coverage, and paid posts are possible only if clearly labelled and relevant. Here is what I will and will not do.

What is possible here

Cwalac is a small, independent blog, and I would like to keep it that way. That said, studios, tool makers and fellow writers sometimes ask whether we can work together, and it is easier to answer once than to repeat myself in every message. This page explains what I will and will not do.

The blog covers ARC Raiders, Overwatch, Destiny 2, Warzone and World of Warcraft. If your project sits close to one of those, or to the craft of making online games, there may be a fit. If it does not, I will say so plainly rather than stretch the topic.

Review copies and early access

I am happy to look at a game, expansion or accessory that you send. Receiving something does not oblige me to publish anything. If I write about it, the post will say how I got it, and I will describe what I found, including the parts that annoyed me. You will not get to read or approve the text beforehand.

I also cannot promise a date. Posts depend on how many hours I can put into a game before I feel qualified to write about it. A rushed impression helps nobody, least of all the people who made the thing.

Sponsored posts and placements

Sponsored content is possible in a limited form. Anything paid for will be marked clearly at the top of the page, kept separate from my regular coverage, and written only about subjects I would consider relevant anyway. I will decline offers that ask me to hide the arrangement or to praise something I have not tried.

  • No promises about rankings, traffic or search results, from me or from anyone on your side.
  • No guaranteed positive verdicts on any game, product or service.
  • No gambling, loot-box promotion or anything aimed at children.
  • No links I cannot stand behind after checking them myself.

Terms such as fees are discussed individually, once I understand what you have in mind. I do not publish a rate card.

How to start a conversation

Send a short message to info@cwalac.org. Tell me who you are, what you would like to do, and which of the covered games it relates to. A link to the project helps, as long as it is a plain page where I can read about it without signing up for anything.

I read everything that arrives, though replies can take a few days when I am deep in a patch cycle. If it is not a match, I will tell you honestly, and I will not pass your details to anybody else.
